Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 - California Here We Come
You’ll arrive at California’s Ontario Airport where you can unpack and relax for the next two nights. Our Welcome Meeting begins at 7:30 p.m., allowing for arrival at your convenience and dinner on your own.

Day 2 - A Dazzling Day
Start today with a leisurely breakfast, and set your own schedule for visiting the Road to California Quilters Conference & Showcase. You’ll find our hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the convention center where the quilt show awaits you. Just come and go as you please. And get ready to be dazzled at California’s largest and “glitzy-est” show! Think of it—hundreds of spectacular quilts and lots of colorful California vendors! Just deciding where to begin will be fun.

And speaking of being wowed, you won’t want to miss our Show & Tell Dinner this evening. Our very own superstars will be showing off their “stuff.” (C. Breakfast) (Dinner)

Day 3 - Bedcovers & Beaches
Our sun-filled day begins with a short ride to this area’s favorite quilt shop. It’s spacious and colorful and, of course, just filled with fabrics, patterns, notions, and more! And, if beads are your fancy, you won’t want to miss the shop next door. It’s brimming with beads, bead findings, books and kits…and a nice selection of yarns as well.

Our journey continues to one of the most picturesque coastal villages in Southern California — Carlsbad by the Sea. You’ll absolutely fall in love with this sleepy hamlet nestled on the white, sandy beaches of the California coastline. You’ll feel as if you’ve stepped back in time as we stroll the village’s tree-lined streets where enchanting boutiques, antique shops, and outdoor cafes will surely create unforgettable California memories for you. And we can’t wait to show you a little jewel of a quilt shop that specializes in bright and floral fabrics, Kaffee Fasset designs, and distinctive California patterns.

You’ll soon be ready to relax in our nearby hotel, an exquisite spot for appreciating the Pacific coastline. Perhaps you’ll unwind with a stroll on the boardwalk, or spend a quiet moment in a chaise lounge on the expansive lawn surrounding the pools and Jacuzzi. (C.Breakfast) (Dinner)

Day 4 - Fabric Heaven
Rise and Shine! A spectacular day awaits us on our Super-Sized Shop Hop! If you love fabric shopping, this is the day of your dreams. We’ve lined up a mega-group of “must-see” shops rated tops by Southern California quilters. Each shop has its own distinctive personality and specialty. Our first stop is a rambling, gingerbread-style Victorian building whose interior resembles an old-fashioned country store. Here, every nook and cranny in room after room is brimming with quilt treasure. This is the place to find special-cut fat quarters (piglets) and a vast selection of primitives.

Then we're off to visit with Eleanor Burns at her Quilt in a Day studio and shop. What fun we'll have as we go behind the scenes to explore the studio where her P.B.S. series is filmed, and the art department where editing is done. And you won't want to miss Eleanor's humorous talk on the people, places, and quilts that have made her life so interesting throughout 25 years of "Stripping". We know you'll want to spend plenty of time exploring Eleanor's distinctive shop and studio, so we'll be providing box lunches here to enjoy at you leisure.

Next we'll visit the Amidon Quiltworks,
a “Top-Ten” pick by Quilt Sampler magazine. You’ll know you’re someplace special as you step inside this cavernous shop filled from floor to ceiling with delectable quilt samples. Inspiration is limitless here! On display are hundreds of books and patterns, as well as thousands of bolts of fabrics, including over 150 bolts from the Thimbleberry collection. The staff specializes in appliqué and can’t wait to share their know-how with you. We’ll give you plenty of time to shop before we continue on to our last treat of the day…the famous Rosie’s Calico Cupboard Quilt Shop. Here you’ll meander through one room after another filled with fabrics organized by theme and manufacturer: Orientals, musicals, cats, 19th and early 20th century reproductions, civil war reproductions, and that’s just skimming the surface! There’s also a great sale area, thousands of notions, and a large collection of books. Happy Shopping! (C. Breakfast) (Box Lunch)

Day 5 - Palm Springs Magic
We’ll say farewell today to the picturesque village of Carlsbad by the Sea. Next on our journey is another of Southern California’s most charming cities: Palm Springs.

Set against the majestic San Jacinto mountain range, and surrounded by palm tree-lined avenues, this is the world-famous winter playground for Hollywood stars, European royalty, and international business tycoons. Enjoy an afternoon of hobnobbing with the rich and famous. Perhaps you’ll do a bit of people-watching while enjoying lunch at one of the many outdoor cafes. Or you can explore the veritable gold mine of fine art galleries and fabulous boutiques that line Palm Canyon Drive, one of California’s most famous boulevards.
(C. Breakfast) (Dinner)

Day 6 - The Fabulous Follies
Ahh…what could be better than a relaxing morning in Palm Springs. We’ll arise at leisure today, perhaps a swim in the pool or a stroll along the boulevard.

This afternoon, get ready for a world-class extravaganza as we attend the fabulous Palm Springs Follies. This absolutely fabulous show features dazzling showgirls and performers, from 56 to 86 years young! Sit back and enjoy a lavish production that has drawn raves from People Magazine, ABC News, and The Washington Post.

An exciting evening awaits as we see Palm Canyon Drive lined with twinkle-wrapped palm trees. (C. Breakfast)

Day 7 - Farewell
Following breakfast this morning we’ll board our coach for a farewell Celebrity Tour. We’ll view the fabulous dwellings of Palm Springs’ most famous residents past and present…Liz Taylor and Richard Burton, Dorothy Lamour, Hedy Lamarr, Frank Sinatra, Kirk Douglas, Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Sonny Bono, and many more…and of course hear the latest inside gossip!

There will be much to talk about on our journey back to the Ontario International Airport for departing guests, followed by a stop at our starting hotel for those guests staying on. (C. Breakfast)
